The plane belonging to Aseman Airlines, which is banned from EU airspace, had reportedly made an emergency landing earlier this month and re-entered service after being grounded for seven years and overhauled. It was flying from the capital Tehran to Yasuj when it vanished from radar about 90 minutes after take-off. The airline told Iranian media that all 60 passengers and six crew members were killed when the ATR 72 twin-engine turboprop plane went down in bad weather.
It later retracted its statement because recovery teams had not yet reached the crash site. The site is near Semirom in Isfahan province, about miles south of Tehran.

The accompanying video is a little disturbing to watch. There is no reason that an overbooked flight should result in the forced, physical removal of a passenger by law enforcement. There had to be a better solution.
Delta Air Lines Flight was a scheduled domestic passenger flight between Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah. On August 31, , the flight, operated by a Boeing , crashed during takeoff, killing 14 of the people on board, and injuring 76 others.
PIA Airbus A at Fiumicino Airport , circa The s decade began with the opening of a cargo handling centre at Karachi airport, duty-free shops, the first C and D safety checks on its entire fleet, as well as the introduction of airline’s first Airbus A B aircraft. In , the airline introduced Night-Coach service as a low-cost alternative to day-time domestic flights. These planetariums featured retired PIA aircraft on display for educational or observational purposes. Two more retired Boeing B aircraft were donated to the planetariums in Karachi and Lahore later on.
In the mid s, PIA also helped establish Emirates by leasing two of its aircraft – an Airbus A and a Boeing – as well as providing technical and administrative assistance to the new carrier. Both steps came simultaneously and put great pressure on PIA’s financial performance. Farooq Umar to meet the challenge, fought the battle of open skies and opened up six new routes to the Persian Gulf and CIS countries along with tourists attraction ‘air safari’.
He also made major changes in routes and schedules and started non stop flights from Lahore and Islamabad to JFK and Canada. In addition, PIA became a client of three flight-reservation systems, namely: Sabre , Galileo and Amadeus. After his departure PIA started to nose dive. PIA purchased a Boeing flight simulator to train its pilots. It also purchased another used Airbus A aircraft.
A Tupolev Tu aircraft was also leased briefly in to cope with a surge in passenger traffic during summer

History[ edit ] Historically, as aeroplanes became ever larger requiring more engines and complex systems to operate, the workload on two pilots became excessive during certain critical parts of the flight regimes, particularly takeoffs and landings. Piston engines on an airplane required a great deal of attention throughout the flight with their multitude of gauges and indicators.
Inattention or a missed indication could result in engine or propeller failure, and quite possibly cause the loss of the aircraft if prompt corrective action was not taken. In order to dedicate a person to monitoring the aircraft’s engines and its other critical flight systems, the position of “flight engineer” FE was created. The FE did not actually fly the airplane; instead, the FE’s position had a specialized control panel allowing for the monitoring and control of various aircraft systems.

Wednesday 28 May Now British Airways staff have been warned not to hide dead bodies in the toilet since it is undignified, and a safety risk. She tells the trainees: You would have to take the aircraft apart to get that person out. Imagine putting someone in the aircraft toilet? I know a crew member who had to sit next to someone who passed away and for the rest of the flight. All of this is such a horrible topic. Airlines advise against placing bodies in the toilet because there have been cases where rigor mortis has set in and the body could not be removed from the confined space.
It is common practice for a deceased passenger to be moved to an empty seat [if available] in first class or business class, or brought to a crew rest area and laid down and covered. If there is no space available, the dead passenger may simply be strapped in more tightly with efforts to cover the passenger up, usually out of view of other passengers. The series follows the training of Alice, Patrick and Jodi, selected from thousands of applicants who want to be the face of the airline.
With thousands of eager applicants, the airline can afford to be strict. Unite regional officer Matt Smith said:

This plan, of course, was never ideal, and it was never meant to be permanent. Even before the end of the shuttle program, NASA got to work to find a replacement. The agency landed on the Commercial Crew program, which would see Boeing and SpaceX build new vehicles that could deliver astronauts to the space station. Since , that program has inched along, moving ever-closer to crewed and uncrewed test flights.
Today, NASA moved another inch closer. All the excitement around this announcement needs to be somewhat tempered, however. The Commercial Crew program, on the whole, has experienced numerous delays and budget shortfalls as Boeing and SpaceX work to bring crewed launches back to the U. Recent delays have pushed back the first flights of the Starliner and crewed Dragon to , with uncrewed test flights hopefully happening in November for SpaceX or late this year, early next year for Boeing.
That said, astronauts, on the whole, are a charming bunch with a whole lot of personality. In light of that, watching them train and then fly these missions over the next year or so should be fun for all involved.

Aircraft performance[ edit ] The NTSB attempted to reconstruct the aircraft’s performance based on reports from witnesses and survivors. Witnesses reported that the plane attempted to climb at a higher than normal angle, and that the plane rolled from side to side and appeared to be out of control. Engine 3 had separated from the empennage.

Share Shares When a plane crashes we can often recover the black box to determine what happened. This box keeps a recording of any talk in the cockpit. Here we present the recordings of the final moments of 10 crashes as found on the black box. Pilot Sightings There have been over 3, documented sightings of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena by military, civilian and commercial airline pilots. These observations span the entire history of powered flight. Many of these cases come from declassified US government reports and investigations, international reports from official sources and the direct testimony of military and commercial pilots, air traffic controllers, and radar operators.
Selected pilot sighting cases, as well as in-depth overviews of several of the cases. The article first appeared in the Providence Journal on May 3, , and then, through national syndication, in the San Francisco Examiner and other major newspapers in mid-May, This is a fascinating and useful tool to develop an understanding of the threads of commonalties underlying many UAP cases.
After consulting much of the literature, talking to UFO historians, and visiting Dr. Richard Haines, here are the few known cases.
